Men’s Soccer travels east, set for match at Stonehill

The Tommies travel to Easton, Mass. for final non-conference road match of the season
St. Paul, Minn. -- The St. Thomas men's soccer team is on the road once again for a match against the Stonehill Skyhawks. Game time is set for 11:00 a.m. CT at Skyhawk Field.

Head Coach Jon Lowery
Jon Lowery built a nationally-respected Division III soccer program with the Tommies last decade, and now he's busy in building mode in Division I.
The 2024 season marks Lowery's 13th season as a head coach for the Tommie Men's Soccer program. Lowery coached his 200th game with St. Thomas Men's Soccer in 2022 season is the longest tenured coach at his school among the Summit men's soccer coaches.
Lowery's 2023 squad earned a hard-fought victory over Chicago State in September, followed by an impressive shutout win against Milwaukee the following month. Ending the season on a high note, the Tommies secured a home win over Western Illinois to finish the 2023 season.
Meet the Newcomers
Tommie men's soccer welcomes 15 newcomers to their roster ahead of the 2024 season. Nine transfers and six freshmen make up the incoming class:

Last Time Out
Last Saturday, the Tommies earned a win against St. Cloud on South Field.
St. Thomas men's soccer started strong with a goal just two minutes into the match as Alejandro Giner netted his first goal in Purple. Capturing momentum early, St. Thomas kept up the offensive pressure for much of the game. The Tommies held the one goal advantage up until the midpoint of the first frame as St. Cloud State tallied its first score of the match.
Once again, the Purple took control early in the half. Faris Colic recorded his second goal of the season off a pass from Alejandro Giner and Jorge Perez in the 49th minute to put St. Thomas back in the lead.
After the Huskies once again found the equalizer, St. Thomas continued its no quit pressure, responding quickly to regain the lead. Jorge Perez recorded his first goal of the season and fourth point of the game, posting the game-winning goal to lift the Tommies to a 3-2 victory on Saturday afternoon.
St. Thomas totaled season-high seven shots on goal, holding the Huskies to just three during 90 minutes of play.
Tommie Seniors
Faris Colic, Charlie Holton, and Keegan James are playing their fourth and final season in purple. The group has combined for 15 goals and six assists, each playing over 2000 minutes on the field in their careers and leading the Tommies through the transition to Division I athletics.
Home Field Advantage
The Tommies went unbeaten in their last seven home contests and held a 3-1-2 record on South Field during the 2023 season.
At home, the Tommies have allowed just 10 goals against from 38 shots on goal between the 2023 and 2024 seasons, shutting down top-ranked opponents with rock solid defense.
March to the Summit
After finishing the 2023 season with a 3-10-3 record, the Tommies were selected to finish fifth in the 2024 Summit League Men's Soccer preseason poll.
Graduate Student, Sid Kerr and junior midfielder Gunnar Busch were selected as players to watch this upcoming season. Busch started in all 16 matches for the Tommies a season ago, while Kerr is beginning his first collegiate season stateside after playing the previous two seasons for Barwell Football Club in his native England.
Scouting the Skyhawks
Stonehill men's soccer (3-3-1 overall) is led by Head Coach Jim Reddish in his 18th season as head coach of the men's soccer program at his alma mater.
In its last three games, Stonehill has earned three straight wins against Fairfield, Iona, and Holy Cross. Senior, Colin Milliken leads the Skyhawks with seven points (2G, 3A) in seven games played so far this season.
