The Tommies earn their first road victory of the season, defeating the Skyhawks 2-1

EASTON, Mass. – The St. Thomas Men's Soccer team traveled east for a match against the Stonehill Skyhawks. The Tommies (3-1-2 overall) earned their first road victory of the season, defeating Stonehill (3-4-1 overall) at W.B. Mason Stadium.

RECAP
It was a quiet first half on Saturday afternoon in Easton, Mass. Knotted at 0-0 through the first frame, neither team recorded a shot on goal through the first 27 minutes of play, as Krenc made his first of four saves of the game on a Stonehill scoring opportunity.

Recording the lone shot on goal of the first half, Stonehill also held the advantage in corner kicks 8-1 throughout this afternoon's match, including five during the first half.

Taking control of the match, St. Thomas recorded four shots on goal in the first 20 minutes of the second frame. Capitalizing on back-to-back opportunities, Faris Colic recorded two goals in five minutes for the Purple. Taking the 2-0 lead in the 67th minute of play, the Toms held the lead the remainder of the game to earn a 2-1 victory over the Skyhawks.

Entering the game leading the Summit League in saves per game, Moritz Krenc earned his third win of the season shutting down the Skyhawk offense.

TOP TOMMIES
Faris Colic scored the Tommies' two goals of the afternoon, marking his fourth goal in four games played.
• With an assist in today's match, Alejandro Giner has recorded four points in his last two games.

QUOTABLE
"Overall not our best first half, but we gathered at halftime and got it right in the second half," Head Coach Jon Lowery said. "Proud of the group for staying together. Krenc continues to keep us in games when we need it, and Colic delivered offensively. With Jorge Perez currently sidelined, we had players step up.  Keegan was brilliant and Charlie Holton stepped into the starting lineup really well this afternoon."
