Maulik shines with five hits, Baseball falls to North Dakota State 5-4

Maulik goes 5-for-5, scoring three runs
FARGO, N.D. – In the final game of the series, St. Thomas baseball (18-21, 12-8 Summit) fell in a close Summit League battle to North Dakota State (16-25-1, 11-9-1 Summit).
The series finale was a back-and-forth ballgame as St. Thomas opened scoring on Sunday afternoon.
After the Bison scored three runs over four innings, Matthew Maulik tied the game with a solo home run, his team-leading seventh of the season, in the top of the fifth frame.
North Dakota State regained a one-run lead in the seventh, extending its lead an inning later. Closing the gap but unable to complete the comeback in the final inning, the Tommies fell to the Bison at Newman Outdoor Field.
Maulik finished the day 5-for-5, including a double and the homer, scoring three runs. This is the second five-hit game in the DI-era, as Joe Vos recorded the first against Western Illinois a season ago.
Brigs Richartz recorded his 16th multi-hit game of the season, as eight Tommies combined for 14 hits.
The St. Thomas pitching staff totaled nine strikeouts in the series finale, including four apiece from Devon Schewe and Kolby Gartner (3-4).
