The freshman finished her first round in a four-way tie for second place at three strokes under par as the team is tied for 3rd after day one.

MAYETTA, Kan. – St. Thomas Women's Golf finds itself in a tie for third place at 298 (+10) with South Dakota State, 15 strokes behind Oral Roberts after the first round of the Summit League Championship at Firekeeper Golf Course. Freshman Nicole Reineke is the day-one leader for the Tommies in a four-way tie for second place at 69 (-3).

Reineke ends day one as the only Tommie to finish under par. She began the day with five consecutive pars until her only bogey of the round on the sixth hole, a par five. She followed up with three birdies on her next five holes. Her back nine was without blemish with two birdies on 11 and 16 and pars on every other hole.

St. Thomas' next closest first round finishers were both Courtney Wedin and Isabelle Lynch, tied for 21st place with 76's (+4). Second-Team All-Summit selection Isabelle Lynch shot an even par on the front nine with a pair of birdies and bogeys. She continued on that pace through four holes on the back nine with an added birdie and bogey. She earned two double-bogeys on holes 14 (par 5) and 19 (par 4).

Courtney Wedin shot a +2 on both the front and back nines. She bogeyed three holes on the front with a birdie. The senior added one birdie and bogey on the back but could not rally back from her double bogey on the 14th hole, the same hole that Lynch would later double bogey as well.

One stroke shy of Lynch and Wedin was freshman and All-Summit First-Team selection Kathyn VanArragon. She played rather steady golf through the first six holes with five pars and a birdie until she tripled the seventh hole and finished out the front nine with a +2. After a double bogey to start the latter nine, she birdied the 11thand 12th. She followed that up with three consecutive bogeys on holes 13, 14, and 15. VanArragon finished the round in a tie for 25th place with a 77 (+5).

The Tommies' final golfer on day one was Emma Davies in a tie for 30th place with a first round score of 78 (+6). The sophomore shot under par (-2) on the first nine holes but struggled on the back.

QUOTING COACH HANNEMAN
"We played very solid golf on the front nine and things were going great. We lost our focus a bit on the back and did not finish where I would have liked. We have some work to do in the coming days."
