Baseball drops series opener at South Dakota State

Von Schlegell goes 3-for-4, recording two doubles against the Jackrabbits
After two scoreless innings, a two-run double from Max Moris put St. Thomas on the board first in the series opener. In the top of the fifth inning, Matthew Maulik extended the Tommies' lead with a three-run home run.
After a burst of runs for St. Thomas, South Dakota State rallied to score five runs of its own over three innings to tie the game in the seventh.
A four-run eighth inning from South Dakota State secured the victory for the Jackrabbits in their first Summit League game at home this season.
Leading the Tommies, Zan Von Schlegell went 3-for-4, recording two doubles against South Dakota State. With his fourth home run of the season, Maulik tallied his 11th multi-RBI game.
The St. Thomas pitching staff combined for nine strikeouts, allowing nine hits on Saturday afternoon.
