Tommies comeback falls short in 8-6 loss to Southern Indiana

Maulik leads Baseball with three hits and three RBIs in game two against the Screaming Eagles
Matthew Maulik led the Tommies with three hits and three RBIs in Saturday's game against the Screaming Eagles.
Down by a score of 8-5 after eight innings, the Tommies ninth inning comeback bid was not enough, falling 8-6 to Southern Indiana.
RECAP
Southern Indiana opened scoring in game two of the series, totaling two runs in the bottom of the second inning.
The Tommies responded, as Zan Von Schlegell drove home his first run of the game to cut the Screaming Eagle's lead in half. However, Southern Indiana added three runs in the third inning to extend its lead once again.
After a scoreless fourth inning, St. Thomas recorded two runs over the next two innings, including an RBI from Jonah Hoeg, his first of the season.
St. Thomas kept the Screaming Eagles to just one run between the fourth and sixth innings.
After Southern Indiana scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh, St. Thomas responded with two runs in the top of the eighth, as Matthew Maulik drove in a 2-RBI double. The Tommies added one run in the ninth inning, closing the lead to 8-6, but the comeback bid was not enough as the Screaming Eagles won game two of the series.
The St. Thomas pitching staff combined for eight strikeouts over 8.0 innings.
