Baseball drops game one against Southern Indiana

Von Schlegell records two triples in the Tommies’ loss Friday evening
EVANSVILLE, Ind. – St. Thomas baseball falls to Southern Indiana in game one of the three-game weekend series.
After scoring eight runs in the bottom of the seventh inning, Southern Indiana defeated the Tommies on Friday evening.
RECAP
The Tommies got on the board first with a 2-RBI single from Ben Vujovich in the top of the third inning. Max Moris then drove home his first of two runs of the game, giving St. Thomas the early lead.
Southern Indiana scored its first runs of the game in the fourth inning, closing the lead 3-2.
In the fifth inning, Ben Taxdahl doubled to left field, driving home two runners and adding to the Tommies' margin. However, Southern Indiana once again cut the Tommies lead, adding two runs in the sixth inning and making it a 5-4 game.
After the Purple extended the score to 8-4, Southern Indiana took its first lead of the game after scoring eight runs in the bottom of the seventh inning.
The Screaming Eagles held their lead, defeating the Tommies 14-11 in game one of the series.
Starting the game for St. Thomas and pitching 6.0 innings, Walker Retz threw for nine strikeouts, allowing five hits and four runs.
