Kendell Ellis makes four saves Sunday, all in first half
ST. PAUL, Minn. -- St. Thomas women's soccer battled hard against Summit League leaders South Dakota State, holding them in check for most of Sunday's match before a late goal handed the Tommies a 1-0 loss, moving their record to 4-6-2 overall and 0-2-1 in Summit League play.
Kendell Ellis made her second start of the season with four saves, all coming in the first half. Lexi Huber put up two of the Tommies' three shots on goal with the third attempted by Ellie Tempero, marking the Purple's final shot attempt of the day.
Recap
St. Thomas women's soccer played a strong defensive first half against South Dakota State, with Ellis making all four saves of her saves to keep the game scoreless. Ellis denied multiple attempts from the Jackrabbits, including low shots from Kaia Dunford and Mia Bosch. Huber provided the Tommies' best offensive opportunity in the 20th minute, but her shot was grabbed by SDSU. Both teams continued to exchange possession and set pieces throughout the half, with St. Thomas holding off several free kicks and corner kicks from South Dakota State, heading into halftime tied 0-0.
