Alvarez tallies three saves in debut
ST. PAUL, Minn. — St. Thomas (MN) (0-1-0) suffered a 4-0 defeat to Marquette (1-0-0) on Wednesday at South Field. Marquette netted three goals in the first half to secure its victory.
The first half began with St. Thomas defending against an early offensive surge from Marquette. Despite several fouls and a close attempt by Kayden Scrima at 14:45, the home team struggled to find the back of the net. Marquette capitalized on its opportunities, scoring three times, with goals from Megan Murray at 4:31, Lilly Coats at 24:16, and Ella McAleenan at 38:55, assisted by Clare Shea. Ayden Gagner made key saves, but Marquette led 3-0 at the end of the half.
