Tommies earn a conference point in scoreless tie

Women’s Soccer battled North Dakota to a scoreless tie in Grand Forks.
GRAND FORKS, S.D. – University of St. Thomas Women's Soccer (5-8-3 overall, 1-4-2 Summit League) earned its fifth conference point of the season after drawing level with the North Dakota Fighting Hawks (4-8-6 overall, 0-4-4 Summit League) on Thursday afternoon at Bronson Field.
Olivia Rowe got the start in goal for the Tommies and made five saves for her fifth shutout of the season and the Toms' sixth. Rowe's defensive line in front each played 90 minutes for the first time this season. Abby Brantner, Sofia Englund, Lissa MIzutani, and Ellie Tempero did not miss a second of the action.
Recap
The first half between the Tommies and Fighting Hawks ended in a scoreless tie but the Tommies held the advantage in possession, shots, and shots on goal. In total the Toms outshot UND 7-3 and put four shots on goal to the Fighting Hawk's three. Olivia Rowe made all three saves necessary to keep the scoreless deadlock intact.
Likely names on the offense end made an appearance for the Tommies with Lexi Huber leading the way in shots (two) and Sophia Barjesteh drawing some extra attention from the defense. Barjesteh gave some of the contact she was facing back and was disciplined with a yellow card in the 29th minute. North Dakota was called for nine fouls in the half, the Tommies were whistled only twice.
The final 45 minutes of the game mirrored the first with no goals for either side. North Dakota's physical style continued to play a factor as they were called for yellow cards in the 72nd and 90th minutes. Overall, the Fighting Hawks committed 14 fouls to St. Thomas' five. Lexi Huber was also given a yellow in the 84th minute.
St. Thomas continued its dominance on the shot chart in the second with 11 shots to UND's four but could not best the Fighting Hawks goalkeeper, Grace Miller, who made seven saves in the shutout.
Huber led the Tommies with three shots on goal followed by Sofia Englund, Lissa Mizutani, Sophia Barjesteh, and Tatum Trettel with one apiece.
