Tommies remain unbeaten in three straight games
MONMOUTH, Ore. – The Tommies controlled the ball for much of both halves, but the physical and defensive minded Western Oregon (0-0-0) side took advantage of their home-field and battled St. Thomas (2-1-1) to a 0-0 tie Sunday afternoon at WOU Soccer Field.
St. Thomas' offense outshot the Wolves of Western Oregon 12-5, they put 10 shots on goal to the Wolves' three and had more corner kick opportunities (4-2).
The Wolves' physical style of play was on display as the home team was whistled for 17 fouls to the Tommies' 11. In all, six yellow cards were dealt out by the head official, two going to the Purple (Cedar Jorgenson in the 44th minute and Mariah Nguyen in the 51st).
TOP TOMMIES
· Olivia Rowe recorded her fifth consecutive shutout half in goal for St. Thomas. She faced three shots from the Wolves and saved all three. Rowe has not allowed a goal in 305 minutes stretching back to game one against Northern Iowa.
· Mariah Nguyen led the way for the offense with three shots on goal. Abby Brantner fired off two shots on net while Lexi Huber and Jasmine Gates each put one on goal.

Thoughts from head coach Sheila McGill after the 0-0 tie:
"It was a small grass field and a big, hard-hitting, and physical team that we were up against. We created and possessed but just did not finish with the ball. It was a great learning game on how to handle ourselves against that type of an opponent."

The Tommies head back to the Twin Cities to do battle with the Minnesota Golden Gophers (3-1-0) across the river in Dinkytown Sunday, September 3 at 1:00 p.m. Any and all information pertaining to the St. Thomas women's soccer team can be found at tommiesports.com and on Twitter and Instagram at @TommieWSoccer.
