RECAP
The match between the Tommies and Wildcats remained tied 0-0 during the first half of play. During the scoreless first half, Northwestern posted three shots, two being on net. Moritz Krenc's two saves for the Tommies were both shots coming from Northwestern's senior forward, Justin Weiss.
During the first half of play, Northwestern had offensive opportunities off four corner kicks, but the Tommies defense stepped up to shut down all four of these attempts.
Northwestern struck early in the second half when Wildcat sophomore, Christopher Thaggard, put one past Krenc during the 47th minute of play. Northwestern had the shot advantage at the time of the goal, 3-0.
Shortly after, the Purple began to push back. The Tommies recorded two shots, however both were blocked by the Wildcat defense. Then, in the 56th minute, the Tommie offense broke through with an unassisted goal by Oliver Bieleveldt. Bieleveldt's goal was the Tommies' lone shot on goal of the match.
The game remained tied at one a piece until the final minute of play when Northwestern's Weiss scored on his fourth shot on goal of the night. Weiss finished the game with four out of the five shots on goal for the Wildcats.
Much like the first half, the Wildcats outshot the Tommies and had more corner kick opportunities in the second, scoring the game winning goal off the final corner kick of the game.
