Purple Progress
Head coach Jon Lowery's Tommies finished 3-12-2 (2-5-1 Summit League) in 2022.

St. Thomas finished 3-12-2 in year two of its Division I era and tied for sixth place in the nine-team conference standings.

Despite using several younger players, Coach Jon Lowery's 2022 Tommie team made progress in season two of D-I and Summit League play and increased its total of goals scored from 10 to 14.

The Toms only allowed 11 goals in eight conference games, and five of those came in the second half against league champion Oral Roberts.

The Toms also went 3-3-2 in home and neutral games but 0-9 in road contests.

Sophomore Standouts
Rising sophomores, Oliver Bieleveldt and Jorge Pacheco, made the 2022 Summit All-Newcomer team. Bieleveldt started 16 of the Toms' 17 games and scored two goals, both by converting penalty kicks.

Pacheco started 15 games and played in 16. He recorded just one shot on goal, but he converted that for an important first-half goal against Lindenwood in a 2-0 conference victory.

The pair were among five rising sophomores who played in nine or more games for the Purple, joining Carver Tierney, Gunnar Busch and Charlie Hoelscher. A sixth freshman, Tony Favorite, played in six games as a goalkeeper, including three starts.

Scouting the Wildcats
The Wildcats of Northwestern are led by three-year head coach Russell Payne. Northwestern finished 2022 with a 3-9-5 record overall and a 1-5-2 record in the Big Ten.

Last season, freshman midfielder Jason Gajadhar was named to the Big Ten All-Freshman Team and Big Ten All-Tournament Team. He recorded three goals and an assist in 14 games played.

Gajadhar is a key player returning to Northwestern from last season, along with forwards Ugo Achara Jr. and Justin Weiss. All three have been selected to the 2023 Big Ten Men's Soccer Players to Watch List.
Scouting the Flames
UIC finished the 2022 season going 5-9-2 over (3-4-1 MVC). Head Coach Sean Phillips is beginning his 14th season leading the UIC men's soccer program heading into this season.

Last season's team leader in points, Joshua Torres, will be returning for the Flames. Torres competed in 16 matches for the Flames in 2022 where he scored eight goals and tallied an assist for a total of 17 points.
