Women's Golf finishes strong, shares 7th place at Summit meet

Lincoln, Neb. -- Isabelle Lynch shot 72 on Tuesday in the final round to lead Tommie Women's Golf to a share of seventh-place out of nine teams at the three-day, 54-hole Summit League tournament.

The Purple shot 293 on Tuesday -- a D-I era best score and just one stroke off the program all-time best.

Just two strokes separated sixth-place Western Illinois (914); seventh-place St. Thomas and Omaha (915 each); and ninth-place North Dakota (916).

Defending champion Denver (852) pulled away for a 16-stroke win over runner-up South Dakota (868).

Emma Davies had three birdies in her closing round of 73 to let her tie for 16th place at 222.

Lynch had two birdies in her closing 72 to tie for 26th place at 228. 

Courtney Wedin had two birdies on Tuesday and finished in 37th place after shooting 75 for a 234 total. Caroline Monty carded a 73, to match her season-low score, and took 38th place at 235. Lauren Contreras shot 79 and finished at 244. 

St. Thomas improved from an 18-hole stroke average of 330 at the 2022 Summit tournament to a 305 average this season.

-- Isabelle Lynch shot 74 and Emma Davies carded a 75 on Monday to lead the Tommie Women's Golf performances on day two at the Summit League tournament.

The Purple shot 309 on Monday after Sunday's opening-round 313, and has the final 18 holes to play on Tuesday.

The Toms remain in a battle for eighth place in the team race, three shots behind Omaha and 10 behind seventh-place Western Illinois. Defending champion Denver has a three shot lead on South Dakota and four-shot edge on North Dakota State atop the leader board.

Lynch posted 15 pars in a three-over-par round and is tied for 31st place. Davies is tied for 14th place after an up and down day that included two birdies as part of a four-over-par total score.

Courtney Wedin and Lauren Contreras each shot 80, and Caroline Monty carded an 84.

-- After a slow start here Sunday on the opening round of the three-day, 54-hole Summit League tournament, Tommie Women's Golf will look to climb the leader board in Monday's second round.

Emma Davies' three-over-par 74 led the Purple to a 311 score and ninth place after the opening 18 holes. Led by one birdie and 14 pars, Davies is tied for 16th place in a field of 45 players.

St. Thomas sits three shots behind Omaha and seven strokes behind seventh-place North Dakota with 36 holes to go.

Defending champion Denver (286) has a seven shot lead on both North Dakota State and South Dakota atop the leader board.

Caroline Monty (78), Courtney Wedin (79), Isabelle Lynch (82) and Lauren Contreras (85) rounded out the St. Thomas lineup.
