Minneapolis, Minn.
-- Tommie Women's Tennis pushed Summit League unbeaten North Dakota to the brink before falling 4-3 in Sunday's match at the University of Minnesota Baseline courts.

Marthe Degeorges won again at first singles for the Tommies (1-13 overall, 0-4 Summit), who dropped a 4-3 decision for the third consectuive conference match.

Jannah ElNemr and Naisha Srivastav won at Nos. 2-6 singles.

North Dakota (10-10, 5-0) recorded a pair of 6-2 decisions to claim the doubles point, then split the six singles matches for the team victory.

Degeorges and Olivia Paradise led 5-4 in doubles when their match was ended with the clinching UND doubles point.

This was the second year in a row North Dakota edged the Tommies by a 4-3 score.

Quoting Coach Lois Arterberry

"We definitely fought today. With North Dakota being the No. 2 seed in the conference right now, our girls laid it all out there. Having another 4-3 score means we are competing with the teams in our conference. We got another good match from Marthe at No. 1, and Jannah showed up today again. Naisha also got a point on the board for us. Everyone is trying to contribute in the best way they can.

"We look forward to the two conference matches we have this week, we just have to keep battling."
