Game Notes -- Softball makes a short trip over to U.S. Bank Stadium for the five-game Gopher Indoor Classic

Last time out
The Tommies (6-9) took two of their five games at the Evansville Invite two weekends ago.
They opened the weekend on Friday with two losses (5-2) to Bowling Green and (12-9) to the host Purple Aces of Evansville.
The Toms split their two games on Saturday defeating Purdue Fort Wayne (5-2) and falling to Bowling Green in extra innings (7-6). The weekend concluded on a positive note as the Tommies swept the Mastodons from Purdue Fort Wayne (5-1).
Among the Tommies' 10 runs in two games against Purdue Fort Wayne were two solo homeruns from senior Katie Goelz (one in each game).
St. Thomas also deployed phenomenal pitching efforts in their wins. Ella Cook went all seven innings in game one, allowed just two earned runs and sent down a career-high eight batters via the punchout. Isabelle True followed up with seven innings of her own. She allowed just one run (unearned) and worked through 25 batters without a walk or a strikeout and surrendered just five hits.

Avery Wukawitz has made the transition from high school ball to Division I look simple over the course of her first 15 games. The freshman out of Woodbury, Minn. has jumped out of the gate slashing .348/.423/.435 batting primarily lead-off for Coach Trotter.
Her .858 OPS is the highest among Summit League freshman and her 10 runs scored and 16 hits lead all first years in the conference. Wukawitz has also been deadly on the base paths going a perfect 6-6, tied for second in the conference and behind only Sydney Ross of Omaha (7-8).
You can't handle the (True)th
Isabelle True has taken the ball to start seven games in the circle this season. She has a perfect 5-0 record and has set career marks in nearly every statistical category.
True has more wins this season in seven starts (five) than all last season in ten starts (two). Her 2.77 earned run average is sixth in the Summit and down from 4.15 last season. True's batting average against (.241) is seventh in the conference and is down from .305 last season and her WHIP has nearly halved from 2.01 to 1.08. Her walk rate has decreased dramatically (14% to 3%) and her strikeout rate has increased (8% to 9.5%).
