Last Weekend Recap
On Friday afternoon, The Tommies were led by a 32-save shutout performance from their sophomore goaltender, Saskia Maurer, and three well-timed goals from three different skaters in their 3-0 victory over the Bemidji State Beavers on the road.

Maurer added another line to her impressive resume against the Beavers. After Friday's phenomenal 32 saves in her third career shutout (and third of the season).

The Tommies scored one goal in each period, each coming around midway through their respective frames.

Allie Monrean got things started for the Purple with a little help from Abby Promersberger, who assisted on the play. Monrean and Promersberger remain tied as the all-time leading scorers against Bemidji State with five points apiece.

The second period goal came off Lauren Stenslie's stick when she captured a rebounded Brieja Parent shot from the goaltender's right pad.

St. Thomas' final tally came from their captain, Anna Solheim. Solheim grabbed her first missed shot in the sequence after the goaltender coughed it up and then rocketed one just inside the outside pipe and into the back of the net.

The Tommies were outshot in the game 32 to 21, but Maurer kept them in it the entire way and timely shooting were all the team needed to catapult themselves to victory.

On Saturday, St. Thomas Women's Hockey outshot the Bemidji State Beavers but could not out duel their opponent, falling 4-1 on the road at the Sanford Center.

The Beavers could not beat Tommie goaltender Saskia Maurer in game one, the sophomore pitched a 32-save shutout. They had the answer for Maurer in game two getting one in just seven seconds into their first power play, 12:50 into the opening period.

Bemidji State never looked back, leading the rest of the way. The Beavers scored two more in the second period and had a third goal overturned due to goaltender interference.

The Tommies' lone goal of the game was scored by Brieja ParentLuci Bianchi flung forward a well-placed pass to Parent who was streaking up center ice through the neutral zone. Parent, with a defender draped all over her back, stick handled onto her backhand and sent a shot passed Abbie Thompson.

Saskia Maurer made 19 saves in net for St. Thomas.

Saskia Maurer has surpassed the 500 save mark this season for the first time in her career. She saved 384 shots in 11 games last season. With Maurer's 506 saves in 17 games this year, she is averaging 29.8 saves per game, third most in the WCHA.
