The Tommies had four different players score goals in the first two periods for a 4-2 conference victory over the Lake Superior State Lakers.

MENDOTA HEIGHTS, Minn. – The University of St. Thomas Men's Hockey team (7-5-1, 5-2-0 CCHA) continued its program-best stretch to five straight games without a loss, while downing the Lake Superior State Lakers (6-7-0, 3-4-0) by a score of 4-2 on home ice in front of nearly 800 on Friday night.

RECAP
The game started rather perfectly for the Tommies when just 11 seconds in the Lakers were called for boarding. It took St. Thomas' power play just six seconds to score as Liam Malmquist sent one in from distance. The goal was Malmquist's second of the season and 13th point of the campaign, Matthew Gleason and Grant Docter teamed up for the helpers.

Their great start continued through the first period when Matthew Gleason scored a goal of his own at 7:19 for his second point of the contest. Captain Lucas Wahlin and defenseman James Marooney each assisted on Gleason's second goal of the year.

St. Thomas earned another power play opportunity as Cooper Gay's strength with the puck drew a holding call against the Lakers. The Toms fired four shots but could not place one on goal. As the power play was dwindling down, Grant Docter lost control of the puck on the blue line and the Laker's John Herrington capitalized on a wide-open lane to the net with a short-handed goal as the power play expired.

The Toms answered back five minutes later with a Quinton Pepper goal. After having gone 41 career games without a goal, the sophomore scored the game-winning goal in back-to-back games during this extended winning streak. Ryan O'Neill lengthened the lead two and a half minutes later with his second of the season.

Lake Superior State scored the only tally in the final 20 minutes just over five minutes in. The Toms fended off nine more shots on net in the period without sacrificing another goal.

Aaron Trotter's record stands at 4-3-1 after the win, the first time he has been above .500 since the very first game of the season. The reigning CCHA Goaltender of the Week made 27 stops to defeat the Lakers. He is top four in both goals against average and save percentage in the league.

Three of St. Thomas' goal scorers tallied their second goal of the season in the win (O'Neill, Pepper, and Gleason).

The Purple outshot Lake State 32 to 29 but were outdrawn on the dot 35 to 31. Ryan O'Neill finished the game with a +2 rating.
