Tommies led by strong first two rounds from Matthew Armstrong

OMAHA, Nebraska – Matthew Armstrong led the charge for the University of St. Thomas Men's Golf team on Monday at the Big O Classic, with rounds of 72 (E) and 73 (+1) as the Tommies finish the first two rounds in eighth place of the 14-team field.

The Tommies finished the first 18 with a collective 300 and followed it up with a 297 on the second half of the day. They sit just 14 strokes out of first place and ten strokes out of the top three with 18 holes to go.

Along with Armstrong's strong performance, Owen Rexing (78 +6 | 70 -2 | 148 +4), Will Frazier (76 +4 | 78 +6 | 154 +10), Gavin Newkirk (74 +2 | 82 +10 | 156 +12) and Glavine Schugel (80 +8 | 76 +4 | 156 +12) all had nice days for the Tommies.
