Women's Soccer does it again, posts 3-0 road win at UNI

Cedar Falls, Iowa - Six different players contributed points and the Tommie Women's Soccer defense continued its stingy play in Monday's 3-0 non-conference road win at Northern Iowa.
Graduate senior Alex Balfour scored in the 28th minute -- her first Division I goal -- to help build a 1-0 Tommie halftime lead. Sophomore Abby Brantner scored in the 51st minute, and sophomore Lexi Huber scored in the 80th minute as the Purple matched their Division I scoring high of three goals set at home last season in a shutout defeat of Wyoming.
Senior Jasmine Gates and sophomores Mariah Nguyen and Annika Eckroth added assists.
Sophomore Annie Bantner had five saves in goal and recorded her fourth shutout of the season, as she lowered her season goals-against average to 0.22. St. Thomas (3-1-1) has allowed just one goal in regulation time over its last seven games dating back to 2021.
These programs played to a 0-0 tie in two overtimes last season in St. Paul, so it was another mark of progress for Coach Sheila McGill's Tommies. The win ended a nine-game road losing streak for the Purple, all in 2021, including five one-goal losses.
Northern Iowa (3-3-1) matched the Tommies in shots on goal (five) and corner kicks (four) but was unable to break through to score.
