Tommies tally two goals in loss
OMAHA, Neb. — The University of St. Thomas suffers 3-2 loss to Omaha on Thursday. St. Thomas finished with an 18-8 shot advantage and put seven shots on goal, while Omaha had four.
First Half
- St. Thomas generated three early shots between 5:50 and 7:09, with Molly Armstrong blocked, Ella O'Keefe saved by Cadence Fagan, and Izzy McEwan missing high.
- Omaha scored twice in quick succession, as Charley Kort converted a penalty kick at 12:23 and Kendall Dobberstein scored at 12:41 to make it 2-0.
- The middle of the half included a physical stretch from 26:45 to 32:39 with four fouls and cards combined, while St. Thomas added a corner kick and an Ana Oenning shot during that span.
- St. Thomas cut the deficit to 2-1 on a TEAM goal at 40:33, then put two more shots on frame in the final minutes, both saved by Fagan.
Second Half
- Trailing 2-1 early in the half, St. Thomas generated five shots and a corner from 48:34 to 57:08, including saved shots by Georgiana McNeil and Armstrong.
- Sophia Alvarez saved Addie LaRock's attempt at 62:51, and St. Thomas later earned a corner at 70:28 before Armstrong scored from Melina Knowles' assist at 71:05 to tie the match 2-2. It was Armstrong's first goal of the season.
- Omaha went ahead 3-2 when Katherine Lucas scored at 82:17 off assists from Charley Kort and Grace Bartlam.
- St. Thomas pushed in the closing minutes with a McNeil shot, a corner at 89:05, and an Alexis Larson attempt at 89:36, but Omaha finished with a 3-2 win.
Armstrong scored a goal and finished with four shots, including two on goal. O'Keefe matched the team high with four shots and put two on frame. Melina Knowles recorded an assist for St. Thomas.
St. Thomas is 1-6-1 overall and 0-1-0 in conference play. Omaha is 2-4-3 overall and 1-0-0 in conference play.
