Road tie at Wyoming for Women's Soccer
9/17/2022 2:03:00 PM | Women's Soccer
Laramie, Wyo. - Keeper Annie Bantner made six saves, including a diving deflection in the final nine minutes, to help Tommie Women's Soccer take a 1-1 tie with Wyoming in non-conference play Saturday.
St. Thomas (3-2-2) took an early lead as sophomore Ellie Tempero scored in the 17th minute. It was Tempero's first goal of 2022 and second of her Tommie career.
The Cowgirls (1-3-3) tied the game as they converted a penalty kick in the 47th minute. Wyoming had a 8-6 edge in corner kicks but a wider 7-1 advantage in shots on goal plus an overall 17-6 edge in all shots
A Wyoming shot hit the right post in the game's final eight minutes, and the ball was still in play in front of the net. Bantner dove to deflect a rebound shot off to the left side, and the Cowgirls were unable to close out the play.
The Tommies had a few scoring chances over the final minutes but were unable to connect for the go-ahead goal.
