Women's Golf finishes eighth at Stampede at the Creek, O'Neil leads the Purple

Elkhorn, Neb. - The St. Thomas women's golf team finished in eighth place with a team score of 1,006, sophomore Paige O'Neal led the Tommies with a score of 246.
"Our girls battled the conditions today to finish the tournament. It was windy and not the best day for golf, but I'm proud of the mindset of our team," said Head Coach Katie Hanneman. "I'm proud of how Paige responded to lead the team this tournament. She had a challenging round our last outing and her determination and hard work to bounce back from that really showed through for her and our team."
Today, the Tommies played the third and final round of golf, after playing 36 holes yesterday. St. Thomas shot a team tournament-best 326 in its second round yesterday. The Purple finished the tournament with 94 pars and eight birdies.
Individually, O'Neal led the team with a score of 246, she went 82-79-85--246, shes finished tied for 38th. Freshman Isabelle Lynch shot a combined 249, with scores of 77-85-87--249. Freshman Lauren Contreras (82-83-86--251), junior Claudia Kim (89-80-91--260) and junior Sophia Dooman (94-93-93--280) also competed for St. Thomas.
The Tommies complete their 2021-22 season at the Summit League Championships starting April 24 in Newton, Kansas.
