Rudd, Urkiel break 100 breaststroke records for Tommie Swim & Dive Saturday

St. Paul, Minn. -- Both Tommie Men's and Women's Swim & Dive program records in the 100 breaststroke were broken Saturday as the team competed at the SCSU Rochester Invitational in Rochester, Minn., and the Roger Ahlman Invitational in St. Paul, Minn.
Grace Urkiel and Joe Rudd broke the program's records in the 100 breaststroke at the SCSU Rochester Invitational. Urkiel set the new women's time at 1:03.11 while Rudd set the men's record at 54.98.
At the Roger Ahlman Invitational, Sophie Curran recorded the women's only wins of the meet in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 56.86 and the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:06.04.
Adam Skrzeszewski brought in the men's lone win of the meet in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:00.49.
In total, the women finished with 10 top-three finishes, including four relays. Georgina Sugrue took second in the 1650 freestyle with a time of 18:13.00, which ranks 14th fastest in program history.
The men ended the Roger Ahlman Invitational with five top-three finishes.
The Tommies complete their weekend Sunday with the final day of the SCSU Rochester Invitational, beginning at 9:30 a.m. Full results from the SCSU Rochester Invitational will be posted following the meet on Sunday.
