Wedin finishes second, leads team to fourth place finish at Big O Classic

Omaha, Neb. - Junior Courtney Wedin finished in second place individually with a score of 221 through the three-round classic helping St. Thomas to a fourth-place finish as a team.

"I'm proud of the growth that our team continues to show," said Head Coach Katie Hanneman. "It was amazing to see Courtney compete the last couple of days, she had two amazing rounds and for her to finish second is a huge accomplishment."

Wedin posted scores of 71, 79, 71 to finish the two-day tournament with a score of 221 through the 54-hole competition. The Chanhassen native finished the first and third rounds two strokes under par.

Freshman Caroline Monty finishes tied for 18th after ending day 1 tied for 28th, she posted scores of 85, 76, 76--237. Sophomore Isabelle Lynch finished tied for 27th with scores of 84, 76, 81--241.

As a team, St. Thomas posted a final score of 943, Wichita State won the nine-team field with a score of 926. The Purple shaved improved in each round of the classic, finishing round one with a score of 327, shot a 312 in the second round and finished the classic with a 304-stoke round three.

Also competing for the Tommies was the freshman duo Emma Davies (34th, 87-81-77--245) and Kate Foley (tied-53rd, 89-81-80--250).

St. Thomas finishes the fall portion of its schedule as it hosts the Tommie Cup Matches next week in St. Louis Park, Minn.
