Women's Hockey held scoreless at Bemidji State in 4-0 loss

Bemidji, Minn. - St. Thomas women's hockey (4-19-1, 2-17-1 WCHA) was shutout, 4-0, in a loss at Bemidji State (10-13-3, 7-13-2 WCHA) on Saturday.
After the first period, the Tommies trailed 1-0, and were outshot 16-6 over the first 20 minutes. St. Thomas held the advantage on faceoffs, 9-8, in the opening period continuing a strong trend against Bemidji State.
The Beavers would tack on two more scores in the second period, even as the shot differential was narrowed, 14-11. All three of the opposing team's goals were scored at even strength through the first 40 minutes. Both teams had tallied one penalty resulting in a power-play for the other team in the first two periods.
The Tommies were held scoreless in the third period as the Beavers added one more goal to their lead, to make it 4-0.
Senior goaltenders Eryn Cooley and Alexa Dobchuk both found playing time in the net for St. Thomas, with Dobchuk getting the start and most of the minutes. Dobchuk tallied 35 saves in the contest, while Cooley amassed 15 saves in just under 10 minutes of reserve action.
Senior Anna Erickson led the Tommies with four shot attempts against the Beavers. Freshman Lauren Stenslie and senior Megan Cornell were tied for second on the team with three shot attempts.
