More Highlights
The Tommies won six MIAC regular-season championships over the last nine full seasons.

The Tommies made 36 consecutive MIAC playoff appearances and were in the playoffs every year since the format started in 1985.

St. Thomas was the first MIAC hockey program to reach the NCAA Division III championship game, with two appearances. The 2000 Tommies lost 2-1 to Norwich in the finals, while the 2005 Toms lost 5-0 to Middlebury.

St. Thomas has made 17 NCAA playoff appearances, including 10 in the last 22 seasons.

Did You Know?
  • The Tommies had the most wins among all Division III hockey schools (1,164 in 96 seasons)
  • St. Thomas has won 34 conference championships, including 22 in the last 37 seasons. They've placed first or second in the MIAC 52 times, including 32 of the last 37 seasons.
  • The Tommies won the conference seven years in a row from 1989-95.

Puck Parity

Seven of the nine men's hockey schools have won the last 14 MIAC regular-season titles. The last three MIAC playoff championship games included five different schools.

Seven different schools have had a Player of the Year since 2013, and all nine schools had a Coach of the Year recipient in an 11-year span from 2005-2015.

All nine hockey programs have made the NCAA playoffs at least once in the last 25 fullseasons, and four of them have made the national semifinals or finals.

They Said It:

"I'm humbled, blessed and thankful to have been a part of a university like St. Thomas for 50 years as a student, player, assistant coach and head coach. It's fun to think back and recall all of the coaches and players that I had relationships with. We shared some great memories here. I was so fortunate to see that growth and maturity these young men displayed on the ice and in the classroom all the way to when they started their work careers, got married and started families.

"The competitive level of play and overall parity in MIAC hockey was something we all are proud of. Every night you had to bring your "A" game or you would go home with a loss.

"I enjoyed my relationships and connections with the fellow coaches I competed against in the MIAC. I received a lot of calls and notes when I announced that I was retiring, and that was appreciated. We competed hard on the ice, week in and week out, but there was always respect, and when the season was over, we stayed united as a group. We are all in this for the right reason, and we understand that we all want the conference to remain strong and bring out the best in all of our teams."
