--

St. Thomas senior defensive lineman Seth Bickett is among 109 college football players nationally nominated for the 30th-annual Allstate Good Works Team for 2021.

There are 59 players from FBS and 16 from FCS programs nominated. Bickett is among three Pioneer Football Lague players and also three Minnesota collegians on the 2021 nominee list.

The Pewaukee, Wis., native is known for his consistency and toughness on the field, and is described by his coaches as "an unselfish, team-first leader." Bickett contributed to the Toms' conference co-champion team in fall 2019 and will help lead St. Thomas this fall as its starts its Division I chapter of FCS Football in the Pioneer League.

Off the field, Bickett has been equally busy and productive. He has built a 3.98 grade-point average while majoring in Actuarial Science, and is working for his second summer as an actuary intern at Allianz Insurance. Last year, he was one of just four St. Thomas students honored with the Science, Math and Engineering Scholar award.

He's been a leading volunteer with 'Up 'Til Dawn', the university's student fundraiser for St. Jude's Children's Hospital. For the sixth straight year, Tommie Football won the national championship as the charity's top student fundraising team while topping 3,500 other collegiate organizations, raising well over $100,000 to date for the children's hospital. Last holiday season during the pandemic, Bickett wrote letters to nursing home members. He's also been active in his church and hometown in tutoring and charity events, and also volunteered on a spring-break trip at an orphanage in the Dominican Republic.
