They're Back: M-W Swim enjoys season openers

St. Thomas Women's Swim-Dive opened its 2020-21 season on Saturday with athletes in two pools in two cities. The Tommie swimmers competed Saturday morning at home in Anderson Pool, while the divers will compete in Collegeville later on Saturday in the Tommie-Johnnie men's meet.
Coach Scott Blanchard's men's and women's teams spaced out and followed protocols and enjoyed getting back on the clock in the water.
At Anderson Pool, the Tommie women won won both relays and all 12 individual races. The Toms also swept the diving races held in Collegeville.

- Grace Urkiel in the 100 and 200 breaststroke
- Liz Thull in the 100 and 200 fly
- Sophia Becker in the 50 free
- Liddy Ohe in the 200 back
- Anna Berdahl in the 100 free
- Anna Astrup in the 200 IM
- Erin Rudd, Urkiel, Astrup and Berdahl swam on the winning medley relay.
- Becker, West, Kasey Ericson and Hailey Buchanan swim on the winning freestyle relay
In Collegeville, the Tommie men won 12 of 14 events to outscore the host Johnnies. Men's highlights:
- Will Goldman had a hand in three wins in the 200 medley relay and with firsts in the 100 and 200 breaststroke
- Luke Ridler swept the 200 and 500 free races
- Andrew Akermann won the 200 fly and shared first place in the 100 fly with Casey McGrath
- Jake Appino won the 100 fly
- Blake Baertlein took the 200 IM
- John Gahnz captured the 200 back
- Garrett Riley won the 50 free.
