Slow start costs Men's Hockey in 4-2 loss to ASU

Arizona State jumped to a 3-0 lead in the game's first 21:00 and the Devils went on to post a 4-2 win over St. Thomas in Saturday's non-conference match in Tempe, Ariz. That completed a weekend sweep for the home team (6-4 overall).
The Tommies (1-9) outshot the Sun Devils in Saturday's contest, 39-25.
Christiano Versich scored a second-period power-play goal, assisted by Trevor Zins and Matthew Jennings, to cut the deficit to 3-1.
ASU scored an empty-net goal with just under 2:00 left in the game for a 4-1 lead. Freshman Tim Piechowski added a goal for the Purple with 45 seconds left for the final 4-2 margin.
Jacob Berger stopped 22 of 25 shots for St. Thomas.
The Tommies will travel to Ohio next weekend for Friday and Saturday night CCHA games against Bowling Green.
