Milestone day for Men's Soccer with 1-0 NCAA playoff win
11/10/2018 12:00:00 AM | Men's Soccer
Senior keeper Aidan Hogan recorded his 29th career shutout and 50th career victory and sophomore Halver Houg recorded another clutch goal as Tommie Men's Soccer scored a 1-0 win over Pacific Lutheran in an NCAA playoff first-round game at UST's South Field.
The Tommies (15-3-2) ran their unbeaten streak to nine (8-0-1). Coach Jon Lowery's team also improved to 12-2-1 in MIAC/NCAA postseason play over the last three seasons.
Next up in Sunday's 1 p.m. clash with UW-Superior, which rallied from an early deficit and eliminated Augsburg, 2-1, in Saturday's second game at South Field.
Hogan had five saves and helped kill off all eight corner kicks by the Lutes (13-6-2). He moved his record to 50-8-3 in 63 games over his four-year career.
As halftime approached and the score still at 0-0, freshman George Marty served a corner kick into the box, and Houg converted with just five seconds left in the first half for what proved to be the only goal of the contest.
