Lucia Renikoff scored 15 points and Hannah Spaulding added 14 to lead No. 8-ranked St. Thomas to a 74-66 win over previously unbeaten and No. 12-ranked Gustavus in MIAC women's basketball play Wednesday night in St. Peter.

The Tommies (7-1 overall, 4-0 MIAC) ran their season win streak to six, their MIAC overall win streak to 38, and their conference road victory streak to 17.

Coach Ruth Sinn's Tommies shot 58 percent from the floor to offset 19 turnovers. Kylie Brazil scored 12 points and Maddie Wolkow added 10 as the UST starters outscored GAC's 58-36.

The Gusties (7-1, 3-1) had only seven turnovers but shot just 39 percent from the field, including 3-of-14 from behind the arc. Mikayla Miller scored a game-high 24 points to lead the home team.

UST got points from six different players during a 16-4 run to close the second quarter with a 12-point lead.

Gustavus answered with a 21-8 run in the third quarter for a 48-47 lead, but Wolkow score five during a 14-4 UST surge that put it back ahead by nine points early in the fourth quarter.

The Gusties were never closer than four points in the final stretch. UST made 5-of-6 free throws in the final 40 seconds to ice the victory.

The Tommies face Luther at home on Saturday (3 p.m.) in non-conference play, then take a two-week break for exams and Christmas.
