Sophomore Laura Hamilton scored 15 of her 19 points in the second half and added nine boards and six assists to lead Luther to a 77-72 road win over No. 11-ranked St. Thomas Saturday afternoon in non-conference women's basketball play at Schoenecker Arena.
The Norse (6-5) ended UST's 18-game home win streak as they outscored the host team 45-34 over the final two quarters, had all five starters score in double figures, and had only nine turnovers on the game.
In the last two quarters, Luther used 56-percent shooting from the floor and a 12-0 advantage in 3-point scoring.
Junior center Hannah Spaulding scored a career-high 29 points for the Tommies (7-2), who also had a six-game season win streak snapped. Maddie Wolkow scored 13, Lucia Renikoff scored 12, and freshman Kaia Porter chipped in nine points off the bench.
Hamilton completed a three-point play with 2:45 to go to cap a 15-5 Norse run for a 73-65 lead. The Toms pulled within three and later within two in the final minute but was unable to get any closer.
Luther made 9-of-11 free thows in the final 4:15.
St. Thomas is off for 13 days until playing Dec. 29-30 in Wisconsin Dells against UW-La Crosse and Lake Forest.
