Rain has postponed the Tommie Softball Sunday doubleheader at St. Ben's. Those games have been rescheduled for Tuesday April 26 at 3:30 in St. Joseph.
Saturday Story
Brenna Walek's two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth inning snapped a 1-1 tie and lifted No. 13-ranked St. Thomas Softball to a 3-1 victory over second-place Gustavus in game one Saturday at South Field.
Micaela Trainor had a walk-off single in game two as the Toms won 4-3 to complete the sweep. UST came back from a 3-1 deficit, as Walek hit a solo homer, and Melissa Barry went 3-for-3 and scored three runs in the victory.
Dana Connelly had four hits, and Walek and Megan DuPuis had three hits on the day. Walek now has 29 home runs in 111 career games.
Freshman hurler Kierstin Anderson-Glass took both wins and now is 20-4 in her debut college season. She allowed just one run, six hits and one walk with 11 strikeouts over 10 innings on the day.
UST improved to 29-5 overall, 16-2 in the conference and secured an MIAC playoff spot with six games to play. The Toms have four MIAC games to go and lead second-place St. Catherine by two games on the loss side.
DuPuis has a streak of 17 games in a row with either a hit, run or RBI.
