Veteran St. Thomas tennis coach Terry Peck won his 600th collegiate match with Friday's 5-4 victory by his Tommie men over Macalester. The MIAC dual was played indoors in Lakeville.
Peck's dual record in 24 seasons as men's coach and 20 seasons as women's coach is 600-223.
The Tommies (10-4 overall, 6-2 MIAC) won two of the three doubles matches and played even at singles. There were no UST double winners but seven Toms contributed to the wins.
Burke Anderson and Scott Wall won close two-set decisions (with tie-breakers) at Nos. 3-4 singles to let the Toms hold off the Scots (9-8, 4-5).
St. Thomas plays its final regular-season match Sunday at 1 p.m. at St. Paul Academy against first-place Gustavus.
UST and Macalester could meet in round one of the playoffs on Tuesday.
