Volleyball sweeps Carleton in 3, extends home string

The No. 12-ranked Tommies (12-2 overall, 2-0 MIAC) ran their home-court win streak to 12 dating back to September 2010 with Wednesday night's 3-0 sweep of Carleton (10-4, 1-1).
The Toms hit .389 on the match. In game two, Carleton led 14-10 but St. Thomas roared back and outscored it 15-4 the rest of the game. St. Thomas used a late 12-0 run in game three to pull away after leading just 11-9.
For UST, freshman Jill Greenfield had 10 kills and 14 digs; senior Taylor Cross had 11 kills; freshman Kelly Foley had 10 kills; sophomore Paige Brimeyer had eight kills and two blocks; senior Ashley Maher had 36 assists; and junior libero Kaitlyn Wachter added 14 digs.
Junior Jessa Youso had six kills and senior Erin Anderson had nine digs for the Knights.
St. Thomas has two road tests in the conference in the coming week -- Friday night at St. Ben's, and Sept. 28 at Concordia-Moorhead.
In other Wednesday action in the conference, host Bethel surprised No. 10-ranked Concordia and pulled out a 3-2 victory.
