Volleyball goes 1-1 Friday vs. ranked foes

The No. 7-ranked Tommie volleyball team split two matches vs. nationally-ranked teams on Friday in San Antonio.
UST lost a five-game decision to No. 10-ranked Southwestern (Tex.) on Friday afternoon, 25-23, 11-25, 25-20, 26-28, 15-9. St. Thomas bounced back to defeat host Trinity (Tex.), 25-20, 25-19, 25-23.
Freshman Kelly Foley had 19 kills and hit .412 in the Trinity victory, and 18 kills and hit .500 in the Southwestern match. Jill Greenfield had 13 kills and 13 digs against the Pirates (8-1).
The Tommies (10-1) play Saturday against No. 8-ranked Carthage at 9:30 a.m. and Occidental at 11:30 a.m.
