Johnson sparks late win for Women's Hoops

Junior Ali Johnson tied a 22-year-old school record as she sank six 3-point baskets in a 22-point output that led the host Tommie women's basketball team (8-2 overall, 7-0 MIAC) to
their seventh win in a row, 66-61 over Gustavus.
Rachel Booth added 13 points and 11 rebounds for the Tommies, who have won 11 consecutive games against MIAC opponents dating back to February 2010.
The Toms are alone in the conference lead at 7-0 as Concordia took its first loss Saturday at St. Ben's.

UST survived 36% shooting and 16 turnovers. They outscored Gustavus 18-12 in foul shots.
Freshman Taylor Young had nine points, six rebounds and three assists in 18 minutes off the bench, and Jazmin Townsend had eight points and four assists.
Molly Geske scored 16 points for the Gusties (5-6, 4-4). Kelsey Florian had 13 points and Abby Rothenbuehler had eight points and 11 rebounds.
The Toms saw a 30-21 halftime lead disappear but closed the game on a 12-4 run over the last 4:00. Carolyn Dienhart converted a three-point playwith 3:54 left to trim the lead to 57-56, and Johnson's layup with 3:42 to go put UST ahead to stay.
The Gusties pulled within 62-61 as as Colleen Ruane converted a three-point play with 40 seconds to go, but Young made two free throws with 24 seconds to go to extend the lead to four. Johnson closed it out with two late free throws after a Gustie missed shot.
Jenny Phillips has held the Tommie record with six 3-pointers made in three different games, the last in 1988-89.
The Toms play next Wednesday at Concordia-Moorhead.
