Women's Hoops gets 67-54 road win over Cobbers

Freshman Maggie Weiers scored 14 points on 7-of-9 shooting and Kellie Ring scored 13 points off the bench to lead visiting St. Thomas to a 67-54 road win at third-place Concordia-Moorhead in Wednesday's women's basketball game in Moorhead.
Ali Johnson added 11 points and five assists, and Sarah Smith added nine points, six rebounds and two blocks.
The Toms (9-2 overall, 8-0 MIAC) ran their season win streak to eight and their MIAC win streak to 12, inclouding nine road wins since February 2010. They remain one-half game ahead of second-place St. Ben's, a double-digit winner over Gustavus
Coach Ruth Sinn's Tommies shot 50% from the field (23-of-46) and made 20-of-25 free throws. UST rolled up a 34-7 advantage in bench points, the bench even outscored the Tommie starters (33 points).
UST raced to a 12-0 lead, and the Cobbers were never closer than four points thereafter.
UST plays Saturday at St. Catherine.
