Volleyball goes 4-0 in Border Battle, now 16-3

The 15th-ranked Tommie volleyball team won both Saturday matches and claimed the championship of the Iowa-Minnesota Border Battle, hosted by St. Benedict.
Four MIAC teams combined to complete a 16-0 weekend sweep of Iowa. The Toms were awarded the first-place trophy on a tie-breaker based on their 12-0 record in sets on the weekend. Senior Emily Foster was named to the All-Tournament Team.
The Toms (16-3) topped Simpson, 25-17, 25-23, 25-14, and beat Wartburg, 25-16, 25-18, 25-21, and have won 11 in a row and 15 of their last 16 games.

Friday story
The 15th-ranked Tommie volleyball team won both Friday matches at the Iowa-Minnesota Border Battle hosted by St. Benedict. The Toms topped Cornell, 25-22, 25-11, 26-24, and beat Luther, 25-16, 25-18, 25-21, to run their winning streak to nine.
UST plays Wartburg and Simpson on Saturday to close out the weekend.
In the Cornell victory, Alesha Nelson had nine kills and Katie Bonine, Jill Osborne and Tori Jones each had eight kills. Emily Foster had 35 assists and four blocks, and Kaitlain Wachter had 19 digs.
In the Luther victory, Bonine has 16 kills and hit .462. Wachter had 12 digs and Molly Staton added nine digs.
