Brian Arrigoni broke a 2-2 tie with a short-handed goal to start a run of three Piper goals to spark visiting Hamline (12-6-1, 7-3 MIAC) to a 5-3 win over the host Tommies (9-8-2, 6-3-1) in MIAC men's hockey play Saturday night in Mendota Heights.
Zach Faust stopped 31 of 34 shots in goal for Hamline, which won at Saint Thomas Ice Arena for the second year in a row and halted the Tommies' three-game win streak.
St. Thomas freshman goalie Cary Wood, who was 5-0 in January including a 5-3 win Friday on Hamline's home ice, missed the game due to illness. Tyler Chestnut had 19 saves in goal for UST.
Arrigoni and Chris Berenguer each had a goal and an assist for the Pipers, who received goals from five different players.
Adam Davis, Tim Kleiman and Rob Johnson scored for the Tommies, who never led. Johnson's goal in the final 1:20 of the second period cut the deficit to 5-3 but UST never got closer.
The Tommies play next Friday at St. Mary's.
