Holst also finished as the national runner-up in the hammer throw in 2019, qualified twice for the USA Track & Field Championships in the weight throw, earned a national championship berth in the discus, and won the 2019 MIAC indoor title in the weight throw.

Holst earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of St. Thomas and a master's degree in manufacturing engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Stout, and currently works as a manufacturing and continuous improvement engineer.
