Tommies win second on the road in 2026
ST. GEORGE, Utah — The University of St. Thomas (4-3-2) defeated Utah Tech (1-6-0) 2-1 on Friday night at Greater Zion Stadium. The Tommies scored once in each half and held Utah Tech scoreless after halftime despite being outshot 12-8.
The Tommies struck first in the opening half when Oliver Corris scored in the 10th minute off an assist from Orin Mitchell, giving the Tommies a 1-0 lead. It was Corris' second tally of the season. Utah Tech tied it at 1-1 in the 41st minute, and Moritz Krenc kept it there with a save on Griffin Valladares in the 44th. The teams went into halftime even at 1-1.
The Tommies broke through in the second half when the Trailblazers conceded an own goal at 68:59 gave the visitors a 2-1 lead. Jacob Nokken had shots saved in the 54th and 81st minutes, and the Tommies earned three corner kicks after going ahead. The score stayed 2-1 through the final whistle.
Corris scored on his lone shot and finished with two points. Mitchell recorded an assist (first of the season) and put his only shot on goal. Nokken led the Tommies with three shots, including two on goal. Krenc played all 90 minutes in goal, made one save and was credited with the win.

The Tommies have their longest respite so far this season, without a game until next Friday, September 25th. They have one more tune-up scheduled with Belmont (3-3-1) in Nashville before the start of their grueling Summit League schedule in October. Friday will be the first match up between the Toms and Bruins in program history.
