Tommies shoot five-under-par as a team in final round

MANHATTAN, Kan. – St. Thomas men's golf retooled after last season, sending four new golfers into the lineup for the Wildcat Invitational against 14 other teams. Tyler McNeive and the new-look Tommies took home the title, finishing 10 strokes clear of host Kansas State.

McNeive led the way for St. Thomas with a pair of 69s (-3) in the second and third rounds. The junior claimed the runner-up trophy, a career-best finish, after three strong rounds. He was dialed in on the final day with just one bogey and four birdies, including three straight on holes 14, 16 and 18 to close out the tournament. He also carded a pair of eagles on holes 13 and 16 during his second round.

Miles Bollinger played the role of McNeive's right-hand man in his Tommie debut. The Minnesota native led St. Thomas in the first round with a 71 (-1) and then matched McNeive's 69 in the final round. Bollinger also bogeyed just one hole and finished his final 13 holes with a birdie, 11 pars and an eagle on 16. He claimed a share of fifth place, marking just the second time in program history that St. Thomas has had two golfers finish in the top five.

Next in the lineup were freshmen Collin Ramos and Braydon Pulcanio. Ramos tied for 15th place after back-to-back rounds of just one over par, following a three-over first round that included eagles on his fourth and seventh holes. Pulcanio took a share of 32nd place after shooting one-over in his first round of collegiate golf.

Anthony Jomphe rounded out the Tommies' lineup in 50th place but played a key role on the final day, shooting even par to rally after an uncharacteristic second round. The transfer closed out his tournament with three birdies and four pars over his final seven holes.
