Tommies set to host NDSU in regular season finale
ST. PAUL, MINN.- The. St. Thomas Tommies are set to host the North Dakota State Bison for a four-game regular season finale at Koch Diamond. The Tommies will also celebrate the 2026 senior class prior to Saturday's game.
St. Thomas vs. North Dakota State
Game One: Thursday, May 14th (12 p.m. first pitch/NDSU home team)
Game Two: Thursday, May 14th (3 p.m./40 minutes after game one first pitch)
Game Three: Friday, May 15th (3 p.m. first pitch)
Game Four: Saturday, May 16th (1 p.m. first pitch)

Last time out
The Tommies traveled to Brookings, South Dakota for their final regular season road series against the SDSU Jackrabbits. St. Thomas fell 2-1 in the series but came away victorious in game two.
Game one was a high scoring offensive battle where the Tommies fell 16-13. The Purple then bounced back in game two, picking up a 4-2 win. Freshman Owen Marsolek was incredible on the mound, throwing 7.2 innings and striking out a career-high 12 batters. St. Thomas then fell 7-3 in game three.
History with North Dakota State
The Tommies hold a 7-8 overall record with the Bison but are 4-2 at Koch Diamond. This will be the first time these two squads meet this season as the series scheduled for April 2-4 in Brookings was cancelled due to snow.
Scouting the Bison
The Bison are 11-30 on the season and are entering the final weekend of conference play with a 7-14 record. NDSU is led by senior infielder Diego Trujillo, who is hitting .267 on the season. On the bump, the Bison staff holds a 6.89 ERA.
Senior Celebrations
On Saturday, the Tommies will celebrate the 2026 senior class prior to first pitch. St, Thomas will honor Joe Roder, Evan Esch, Max Skilbeck, Chris Knowles, Colin Lewandowski, Zak Endres and Nolan Kemp.
21 Innings, two days
St. Thomas and Northern Colorado set records for their 21-inning marathon game that took two days to complete. The game was suspended in the 11th inning on Friday, April 17th and picked back up again on April 18th. There were nine scoreless innings before both teams scored two in the 19th. The game ultimately ended via a walk off in the bottom of the 21st.
Reaching the Summit
Junior Owen Bond is making a name for himself amongst Summit League foes. Bond holds a league leading .480 on-base percentage and five triples. Bond is second in the league in batting average with a .359.
Joe Roder also leads the Summit League in walks with 30.
Recchio Off and Running
Tanner Recchio has been causing chaos on the base paths this season as he leads the Summit League with 34 stolen bags and ranks 10th in the country. Recchio leads the league by a 18-base margin, and the next closest is teammate Adam Puder with 16.

Leader of the pack
Head Coach Chris Olean enters his 17th season at the helm of the Tommie baseball program in 2026. Olean has totaled a 414-256-1 overall record (338-148-1 in NCAA Division III) since being named head coach prior to the 2010 season.
Olean is a three-time NCAA DIII Region Coach of the Year and closed out its DIII era by winning championships in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) and region en route to a national runner-up finish and 37-10 record.
During the last 12 DIII seasons, the Purple won eight MIAC Championships, capped by third-place national finishes in both 2012 and 2014, in addition to the runner-up finish in 2021.
Olean mentored seven DIII All-American pitchers. He was voted MIAC and Midwest Region Coach of the Year in 2012, 2013, and 2021. In addition, Olean works with the Tommie pitching staff, which was a perennial top-10 group in DIII baseball.
