Roder leads offense with three hits
OMAHA, NEB.- The St. Thomas Tommies took down the Omaha Mavericks 11-5 on Saturday evening. The Tommie offense tallied 15 hits on the day; Joe Roder led the way with three hits and three RBIs. Tanner Recchio, Adam Puder, Zan Von Schlegell, and Nolan Welke each chipped in two.
Owen Marsolek picked up the win on the mound, throwing 7.1 innings and striking out four.
Scoring Summary:
The Purple got on the board first in the third when Joe Roder's RBI single brought in Tanner Recchio from third. Recchio singled and stole his way around the bases before scoring and giving the Tommies an early 1-0 lead.
Roder continued to have success at the plate in the fifth when he hit a two-run home run to give the Tommies a 3-0 lead.
Nolan Welke tallied the first RBI of his Tommie career in the sixth, bringing in Puder and extending the lead to 4-0.
The Mavericks then plated two in the sixth off a two-run home run.
The Tommies responded in a big way in the seventh plating five off RBIs from Berrisford, Puder, Welke, and Fritcher.
Omaha then plated three in the bottom of the eighth to make the score 9-5.
St. Thomas tacked on two more in the top of the ninth, taking a 11-5 lead. Maulik and Recchio tallied RBIs in the inning.

The Tommies will wrap up the conference series at Omaha Sunday, April 26th.
