Tommies to host Minnesota and Northern Colorado

Tommies ready for five straight home games
ST.PAUL, MINN.- St. Thomas baseball is back at Koch diamond for a busy week of baseball as they will face Minnesota in a non-conference game and Northern Colorado for a four-game conference series.
St. Thomas vs. Minnesota: Tuesday, April 14th (3 p.m. first pitch)
St. Thomas vs. Northern Colorado: April 17-19
Game one: Friday, April 17th (12 p.m. first pitch)
Game two: Friday, April 17th (30-40 minutes after game one)
Game three: Saturday, April 18th (1 p.m. first pitch)
Game four: Sunday, April 19th (1 p.m. first pitch)

History with Minnesota
The Tommies currently hold a 3-14 record against the Minnesota Golden Gophers. This will be just the second time Minnesota will pay a visit to Koch Diamond. The first being last season and the Tommies fell 11-0.
The Purple and Maroon & Gold met a few weeks back across the river at Siebert Field, and the Gophers came away with a 15-5 victory over the Tommies.
Scouting the Gophers
Minnesota holds a 21-14 overall record, with a 5-10 Big Ten record. The Gophers are coming off a series win over Washington this past weekend.
Minnesota's offense is led by senior Weber Neels, who is hitting .350 on the season with seven home runs.
On the bump, the Gopher pitching staff holds a 4.39 ERA and a .235 batting average against.
History with Northern Colorado
The Tommies hold a 15-5 record over the Golden Bears. The Purple made the trip out to Colorado earlier this season and split with the Bears, falling 9-4 before bouncing back and winning game two 8-5. St. Thomas and Northern Colorado will be playing game three of the series on Friday as they were only able to play two due to wildfire smoke.
Scouting the Golden Bears
Northern Colorado offense is led by senior Jaden Stone who is hitting .343 on the season. On the mound, the Bears arms hold a 9.48 with a .323 batting average against.
Last time out
The Tommies hosted SDSU in a conference series this past weekend and fell 2-1 in the series. The Jackrabbits took game one 7-2 before the Tommies bounced back and won game two 4-1. Zak Endres was a bright spot on the mound in game two throwing 2.0 innings, with four strikeouts and picking up the save. South Dakota State then took game three and the series 13-2.
Matthew Maulik led the offense hitting .400 on the weekend with two home runs.
Reaching the Summit
Junior Owen Bond has been having a breakout season and is making a name for himself among Summit League foes. Bond is currently fifth in the league in batting average (.326).
Tanner Recchio has been off and running this season as he leads the Summit with stolen bases with 16.
Two Tommies have found their way into the Summit league top ten in doubles. Matthew Maulik and Adam Puder are tied for fourth with eight.

Leader of the pack
Head Coach Chris Olean enters his 17th season at the helm of the Tommie baseball program in 2026. Olean has totaled a 414-256-1 overall record (338-148-1 in NCAA Division III) since being named head coach prior to the 2010 season.
Olean is a three-time NCAA DIII Region Coach of the Year and closed out its DIII era by winning championships in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) and region en route to a national runner-up finish and 37-10 record.
During the last 12 DIII seasons, the Purple won eight MIAC Championships, capped by third-place national finishes in both 2012 and 2014, in addition to the runner-up finish in 2021.
Olean mentored seven DIII All-American pitchers. He was voted MIAC and Midwest Region Coach of the Year in 2012, 2013, and 2021. In addition, Olean works with the Tommie pitching staff, which was a perennial top-10 group in DIII baseball.
