Five from Track & Field represented on Academic All-League Teams

Apple, Keller selected from women’s squad; Bezdicek, Burnstad, Koel voted for St. Thomas men
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- St. Thomas track & field concluded its indoor season with a handful of selections to the Summit Academic All-League team, the league office announced on Wednesday.
The Tommie men totaled three selections to the academic team including junior Jonathan Bezdicek, sophomore Blake Burnstad and junior Jayson Koel, while the women's team was represented by sophomore Danika Apple and senior Olivia Keller. This is the first time the women have been on a Summit Academic All-League team (indoor and outdoor) while the men's team now has seven total selections to the indoor academic team since 2021-22.
Bezdicek, from Hastings, Minn., totaled five points at Summit League Indoor Championships, placing fifth in the 200-meter dash and part of fifth-place 4x400m relay. His 200m dash of 21.54 ranks 22nd in NCAA Midwest and 4th in Summit League. Bezdicek set four program top 10 times and won one event and totaled seven top-five finishes through indoor season. He was previously selected to the 2024-25 Summit League Commissioner's List and 2023-24 Summit League Academic Honor Roll.
Burnstad, a native of Onalaska, Minn., earned 2026 Summit League Indoor All-League (800m run). He ran the 18th fastest 800m run in NCAA Midwest and broke the St. Thomas 1000m record in 2:26.92. Burnstad set three program top 10 times and totaled two event wins and four top-five finishes through indoor season. He was previously an honoree on the 2024-25 Summit League Academic Honor Roll.
Koel, from Richfield, Wis., earned 2026 Summit League Indoor All-League (200m dash) and broke the St. Thomas program record in the 200m dash (21.47) at the indoor championships. He scored 11 points at the Summit League Indoor Championships, adding a sixth-place finish in the 60m dash. Koel ranks 21st in 200m dash and 37th in 60m dash in NCAA Midwest and set three program top 10 times. He won one event and totaled eight top-five finishes through indoor season. Koel previously earned a spot on the 2024-25 Summit League Commissioner's List and 2023-24 Summit League Academic Honor Roll.
Apple, from Green Bay, Wis., earned 2026 Summit League Indoor All-League (60m dash). She totaled 10 points at indoor championships, adding a fifth-place finish in the 200m dash for the program's second fastest mark all-time. Apple ranked 11th in the 60m dash and 21st in the 200m dash in the NCAA Midwest. She set the St. Thomas program record in the 60m dash (7.42) and totaled three event wins and 10 top-five finishes through indoor season. Apple qualified for the 2024-25 Summit League Academic Honor Roll.
Keller, a native of Burnsville, Minn., was the 2026 Summit League Indoor Champion in the pentathlon and as part of the 4x400m relay. She totaled 17.5 points at indoor championships, adding a fourth-place finish in the long jump. Keller broke the St. Thomas program records in the pentathlon, 600m run, 800m run, and as part of 4x400m relay. She ranks 21st in the pentathlon and 33rd in the 60m hurdles in the NCAA Midwest. Keller ranks sixth in the 800m run, seventh in the 60m hurdles, and 10th in the high jump in the Summit League. She was previously recognized on the 2023-24 CSC Academic All-District, two-time Summit League Commissioner's List and 2022-23 Summit League Academic Honor Roll.
