Softball heads to the mountains for Blue Collar Classic

ST. PAUL, Minn. – Four weeks into the 2026 season, softball has asserted itself as a force to be reckoned with. The Tommies (14-6) added two more run-rule wins to their ledger, defeated a talented South Florida team, and limited Alabama to its lowest run total of the season last weekend. They head over to Boise State's Huber Field for the Blue Collar Classic this weekend for a five-game tournament.

The Purple's pitching staff has been tough to deal with, with a staff ERA of 2.30, all four pitchers have winning records while three have ERA's below 3.00 (Ella Cook -1.52, Mya Tautges – 2.13, Ava Kleinfeldt – 2.71).

All five of the Tommies' games will be played at Huber Field in Boise, Idaho with first pitch of game one against Cal Baptist (17-5) scheduled for noon on Friday, March 6. Game two against Portland State (6-9) is scheduled for 5:00 pm on Friday. The Tommies are back at it against Portland State at 1:30 pm the next day and then play the hosting Boise State Broncos (9-12) at 6:30 pm Saturday night. The final game of the weekend has an 11:00 am start on Sunday against Weber State (3-18).

Friday will be the Toms' first game against Cal Baptist in program history. They have also never played Portland State or Weber State. They are 0-2 all-time against Boise State with a 7-4 and 10-9 loss in 2024. Ella Cook went yard twice in the 10-9 loss.
