Tommies battle Gophers to 1-1 Tie

Jenessa Gazdik tallied the Tommie goal
MINNEAPOLIS, MIINN. - St. Thomas Women's Hockey (12-17-1, 7-16-1) battle the Minnesota Golden Gophers (24-5-1, 18-5-1) to a 1-1 tie. Jenessa Gazdik scored halfway through the third to knot the game at one.
Scoring Summary:
First Period: The first 19 minutes of the period were scoreless, but similar to game one, the Gophers scored a power play goal with 18 seconds remaining to take a 1-0 lead into the first intermission. Julia Minotti tallied 11 saves in the first 20 minutes, and the Tommies won the face off battle with 10 face off wins in the period.
Second Period: Neither team scored in the second, so the Gophers took their 1-0 lead into the second intermission.
Third Period: The Tommies scored the lone goal of the period when Jenessa Gazdik tied the game at one at the 12 minute mark. She was assisted by Cara Sajevic and Whitney Horton. The rest of the period was scoreless, so we headed to overtime.
OT: Neither team scored during the five-minute overtime, so the game ended in a tie and went to a shootout.
Shootout: Minnesota picked up the extra point with the shootout win.
Up Next
The Tommies will hit the road for the final time of the regular season as they head north to take on No. 10 Minnesota Duluth February 13-14.
